Whether its your first time to St. George, Utah or you've been here looking for Southern Utah real estate you've made it your home already! One thing is for sure, you can never find the time to do all the things that St. George has to offer, but let us suggest some things to get you started in learning about St. George and surrounding area:

Throughout the area there are numerous places to go hiking and see the beautiful scenery that each hike has to offer. Maybe you're here to take in a round of golf at one of the many world reknowned St. George golf courses. St. George was settled in 1861 by a group of pioneers sent by Mormon leader Brigham Young. Back then it was the Territory of Utah and St. George's main economies were growing cotton, wine grapes and harvesting silk for the Civil War needs of the Northern states. Today all those things are gone and accomplished by more modern ways, but they are remembered as our heritage and helped St. George become the great center of culture that it is today.

St. George has become one of the fastest growing Real Estate markets in the west. St George is the largest city in Washington County and is the county seat. In the early to mid 90's the area grew 50% and has since been rated as one of the best communities in the country to retire. St George has become a great place to raise a young family, and the growing number of families moving to the St George area has fueled the St. George Real Estate market for many years. St. George, Utah Historical Sites

green gate village site

The Green Gate Village Historic Inn is a unique collection of eight pioneer and early Victorian St. George homes (circa 1862-1881), and other historic buildings, carefully clustered around a Village Green and swimming pool (the pool was added much later of course). Some of the homes were actually built at this site by the original settlers (Orson Pratt-1862 and William Bentley-1876) while others were rescued from the march of progress at nearby locations and painstakingly moved to the Village brick-by-brick over a 20-year restoration period (such as the Christmas Cottage circa 1864, Green Hedge Manor circa 1872, Morris House circa 1879 and Tolley Cabin circa 1881). Rounding out the Village are Thomas Judd's original Carriage House, Granary and General Store all circa 1911. All Village homes have been fully restored and upgraded and currently function as an historic inn, restaurant, reception center and general store.
