Dozens of real estate markets experienced dramatic year-over-year increases on REALTOR.com® in September, with Austin, TX (91.4%) supplanting Las Vegas, NV (84.9%) for the top spot. New to the top five at No. 3 was New Orleans, LA (84.9%) which made a sizeable climb from last month’s 17th position.

Reno, NV (78.7%) retained its No. 4 footing from the previous month. The market with the fifth largest year-over-year search increase belonged to Tyler, TX, (74.1%) which came in at No. 15 in August.

Interest in Florida continues to remain high as seven markets from the Sunshine state placed in the Top 20: No. 6 Tallahassee (72.6%), No. 8 Daytona Beach (69%), No. 10 Fort Pierce-Port St. Lucie (68.2%), No. 11 Miami (67.8%), No. 12 Orlando (65.8%), No. 14 Sarasota-Bradenton (65.2%) and No. 15 Fort Myers-Cape Coral (64.5%).

Such search activity indicates increased interest in markets across the country. Today, more than 87% of home buyers use the Internet to find a home.
