Smartphones, web searches, and social media have changed the way the world communicates. The real estate industry has seen it’s share of changes with these technologies as REALTORS ®reach clients with social media and buyers find properties online. Now, with the advent of the next breakthrough in online communication, agents wonder how it will affect the way real estate is conducted.

Mike Bowler blogs about the new, highly exclusive Google Wave:

“Google Wave has been an interesting opportunity up to this point and will benefit the real estate industry. I have been fortunate enough to get chosen for the beta test and have a couple Twitter sidekicks help me muddle my way through the confusion up to this point, however, I need to find the time to learn more.

An ytime something new comes out, it takes time, experimentation, and actually using the program to get into a comfort zone and begin to get the most of the program. Wave is certainly no exception and still has some bugs to get worked out. Will Wave be the next email to replace the traditional email systems that are pushing 40 years old? I think so.”

If you haven’t received an invite to participate in Google Wave, don’t feel left out. It’s really still in its infancy. But even in the developing stages, this new real-time platform is expected to change the way small businesses and educators share, deliver, and communicate with each other.
